Newlyn
TR18 5HT

Newlyn is one of the major fishing ports in Britain and the church has links with the Newlyn school of artists and crafts people. There is some significant sculpture and works of art are sometimes displayed. The church has had close connections with Italy and has an Italian Tabernacle featuring the Annunciation. The altar of the St. Francis Chapel contains the famous ‘red dust’ taken from the Tomb of St. Francis of Assisi by authority of the Pope to celebrate the 700th Anniversary of his death.

The church is a lively Christian community which welcomes visitors on many weeks of the year. Established and new residents of Newlyn form members of the congregation as do many other people from the wider parish. The church family have links with Germany and America.

The worship style is modern Catholic, and other events are varied and have a contemporary feel. The church regularly celebrates its Cornish heritage in various ways with folk nights, exhibitions and drama.
