St. Peter’s Newlyn

Church closure for maintenance works

St. Peter’s continues to be closed while rewiring and lighting works take place. During this time, people from St. Peter’s (and anyone who wishes to join them) will be meeting every Wednesday at about 10.30am at Duke Street café, for coffee, a catch-up and to keep in touch. However, the current plan is for the church to reopen on Sunday 20th October for its 9.30am Harvest Festival communion service.

Rhys – The NightChurch Piano Tour

Rhys, formerly ‘the Penzance Mystery Pianist’, performed at St, Agnes Church on Friday 27th September, where he wowed audiences with his talent, compassion and humour. The concert was given to fundraise for Centrepoint and NightChurch and we’re delighted to report that £500 was raised for NightChurch. Rhys then played at St. Just Miner’s Chapel on Friday 4th October, again fundraising for local causes. From this performance, NightChurch received £321 from donations. We are extremely grateful to Rhys for his generosity and to St. Agnes and St. Just for hosting Rhys and facilitating these donations.

Opening Reflection
I am not there
I am not then
I am nowhere else
but here
I rest from doing
need not achieve
I do not ask
I do not need
This is the place
for me to be
Here I am (The Quiet Path – Andrew Rudd)

Sentence
Here I am Lord

Closing prayer
Into you hands I commit my spirit
I walk into the hands of the wood
and I am held by the fingers of trees
I am held for a while in cool and stillness
I am held so that I can breathe
so that I can become myself again
(The Quiet Path – Andrew Rudd)
