Ecclesiastical Good News Church Competition

We are very proud to be the Regional and the National Winners of this prestigious competition.

Interview broadcasted on radio Premier Christian on Thursday 12th May 2022

Keno shared his experience

What was it like to be in the prize giving ceremony ?

It was a special day indeed.  As we were arriving from the river Thames, we walked all the way to Church House escorted by hundreds of police people standing by on the roads leading to Number 10 and to Buckingham Palace, so we felt it was a special day indeed.

I was glad to see many people from Ecclesiastical who invited us for a welcome drink and kept us entertained.  It was a great chance to speak to them about our multiple projects at the Cluster, and without doubt, the Head of Marketing was really interested about these Worship Videos we do every week for members of our congregation that worship from home.

We were treated to a wonderful lunch with cornfed chicken followed by Pannacotta, and of course a strong coffee.  Then we received our Regional Prize, one out of 5, which made us all so proud to be there representing the whole South Region.  Other groups were from Scotland, Wales, North and Midlands.

And the time came to announce the National Winner, which was a big surprise for us, when it was announced that it was Penlee Cluster for our Never Alone project.

Remarks were given for the Creativity of the project and the remarkable way in which we were able to feed 75 people 3 days a week for 3 months, sharing a smile and giving them a time to talk to another human soul during lockdown.

As we were on the stage, we sung the song “We deliver a smile wherever we go, we deliver a smile, don’t you know?”, and gave pasties to every group in the room.

How did it feel?  Well, as soon as we received the prize, every person in the room came to congratulate us personally, then we had photographs taken holding the award, soon to go to a meeting room to be interviewed by “Premier Christian Radio”.  Everything happened so quickly that we didn’t have time to catch up until much later, when we were all returning back home together.

All of us with smiles in our faces, indeed.
